A phone system is one of the main tools you use to communicate with your clients, vendors, and prospects. There are many questions that you need to answer in order to choose the right phone system for your business. How many employees are there? Is your business on the verge of expanding or do you need extra extensions available so that you can add lines more cost effectively? In addition to that, will you need room for multiple fax extensions to be added to your phone system? These are just a few of the question you need to be able to answer to choose the right phone system for you.
Figuring out what your needs are in a phone system will help you determine what type of phone system is right for you. A couple of options to look at are a basic PBX system or a VoIP. A PBX system is a Private Branch Exchange. It allows the business to handle their own inbound and outbound calling and also connects to the public switched telephone network (PSTN). This enables the company to help save costs on their phone calls. On the other hand, there is VoIP, also known as Voice over IP. VoIP is a newer technology that allows you transmit voice communications and multimedia over the internet. There is a lot more to PBX and VoIP systems that we will go into detail in a later post, but let’s keep it simple now.
Once you have an idea what functions and features you will need for your phone system, it is time to come up with a budget. Most often, the brand of your phone system will be determined by your budget. For example, if you are a small office and do not have a big budget to work with, buying a phone system somewhere off the shelf might be your best bet. On the other hand, if you are a growing business in the need for a high quality, feature-rich phone system, there are brands such as Cisco Systems that can meet all your needs. Although you will need to adjust your budget for a system like this, you will be getting the top of the line technology and resources for any questions or needs you have.
If you are unable to figure out which phone system your business needs, or you just need help purchasing the right equipment, you need to choose a reliable vendor. Generally, the right vendor is someone who understands what your needs are and knows the ins and outs of the industry. They will be able to provide you with all the accessories and parts that are needed to give you the features you desire. Choosing a phones system is more than just selecting a phone. There are many parts that are needed to make your phone function they way desired.
